![]() Made a new bookmarklet today. Still in beta and only tested in Firefox. Look at the image to see what it can do ;) This thing lets you edit any webpage in Firefox, in place. Visit any webpage (local or online), use this bookmarklet: a new window will popup with the page's source. As you type in that window to edit the HTML, the changes will be reflected on the page in realtime. Very useful for trial-and-error editing of pages. (Think "split code view" in Dreamweaver, but in Firefox!) Works great when used with the CSS editor bookmarklet (or extension) -- go Google for them! --> Edit HTML bookmarklet -------------------- rico/ambiescent.com

I'm starting to feel bad about hating Firefox. <3 -------------------- |

Yep! That's kind of what I use it for... I got tired of downloading -> edit -> reupload -> download again -> edit -> reupload etc, so I just had to hack up a quick solution.
Another tip: go to about:blank and use it there to create an HTML page from scratch. -------------------- rico/ambiescent.com

QUOTE So no need to d/l the page and re-upload via ftp. Nice. I'm starting to feel bad about hating Firefox. <3 Hating Firefox is like hating money! LOL Anyway, very nice and useful bookmarklet, especially for tweak-testing purposes. :) Some feature suggestions: - When the user closes the editing window ([tt]onbeforeunload[/tt]), ask him/her ([tt]confirm()[/tt]) whether he/she likes to keep the revisions or not. - Take the message outside of the [tt]textarea[/tt], preferrably into a paragraph above it. That way, CTRL+A doesn't have to include the comment, and it can be styled to look more prominent as a note. Ever considered porting this into a full-blown FF extension? ;) Stickied!   -------------------- |

one more tip... you can also combine bookmarklet with IE tab in Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/" target="_blank">https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/ so that you can view your page in IE! Great for CSS Positioning stuffs! i hope that there's a Opera Tab for Firefox!

Ang cool! I was beginning to wonder what I had to use it for but I saw the replies and found the thing really interesting. And given that IE tab support, it's going to be a quick "live preview" also. Galing-galing!

Btw fellas, Firebug (getfirebug.com) is a Firefox extension that recently implemented this functionality too (that's why I stopped working on this)
